Participant Profile

  • Resident or citizen from Portugal.

  • Optimal Age range: 18+ years old
  • Likes outdoor activities and seeks new adventures.

  • Fully available to participate throughout the duration of the whole program.

  • No prior experience is required, but a basic level of physical fitness is necessary.

  • Between 10 and 20 spots available. Only 10 via ferrata kits are available but we can make groups and take turns.

Location

Ecovia do Rabaçal is a breathtaking natural paradise, along a crystal-clear river, the perfect backdrop for outdoor adventure and exploration.

  • The expedition will take place in Ecovia do Rabaçal, in Valpaços, Portugal

  • We plan to either do wild camping or to stay accommodated at the Rabaçal Camping Park. Bungalow availability is scarce and costs are not funded.
  • Arrival day is on the 13th of September at the campsite. Further details on how to get there can be arranged later via group chat.

  • In terms of food we will decide if we organize to cook as a group or take care of our own individual diets. Costs are not funded.

Educational Videos

We have produced a series of tutorial videos explaining the basic concepts of safety in via ferrata. These videos are easy to understand and break down important safety tips and the main things you need to know for a great via ferrata experience.

Useful information

  • Participation costs: There are no participation costs. Trainings are funded by the Erasmus+ program of the European Union. However all participants are responsible for their own travel, accommodation and food costs. To avoid last-minute cancelations, participants who are selected are required to pay a 30 € deposit to confirm their participation. The money is sent back after the activity.

  • Health & Insurance: We do not organize insurance for our participants. If they wish to have coverage, participants must arrange insurance for themselves. However, we ask all participants to bring their European Health Insurance Cards or any other health insurance cards, which can be used if they need hospital care.

  • What to bring: Identification card or passport, pocket money, comfortable and enough clothes for the outdoor activity (according to the weather forecast), hiking shoes, working gloves, water bottle, rain jacket, small backpack (15-20 l). Your own tent, mattress and sleeping bag for camping.
